Nokia stellt den Ovi Store vor und mal abgesehen von dem dusseligen Namen, ist es erfrischend zu sehen, daß auch Nokia als Mobilfunk-Schwergewicht jetzt mehr denn je auf Apps setzen wird:
The Ovi Store will consolidate the best experiences from the current content services including Download!, MOSH and WidSets to a single channel, and expands upon Ovi Services to deliver media influenced by the people and places that matter to you. It will amplify content provider and developer opportunities and simplify the consumer content discovery process by offering personally relevant, up-to-the-minute media for their devices. The content will range from applications, games and videos to widgets, podcasts, location-based applications and personalization content for Nokia Series 40 and S60 devices. The Nokia N97, available in June, will be the first device to include the simple and easy-to-use storefront. In addition, tens of millions of existing Nokia Series 40 and S60 users will be capable of enjoying the new service starting in early May.
Im Mobilfunk-Bereich scheinen sich nach den Erfolgen des iPhone folgende Erkenntnisse breit zu machen:
1. die Cashcow SMS muß langsam durch ein anderes Produkt ersetzt werden.
2. die mobile Nutzung von Social Networks steigt konsequent in den letzten Jahren.
3. Data-Flatrates sorgen für einen höheren ARPU, siehe auch No Stopping the Mobile Internet Growth.
4. Apps lassen sich nur dann monetarisieren, wenn die User diese problemlos installieren können und keine Bedenken wegen Abos oder Malware aufkommen.
5. Das Endgerät ist wichtig für die Endkunden, aber die Software ist entscheidend.
Das iPhone hat für Disruption im Mobilfunk-Markt gesorgt, jetzt wird es spannend zu sehen, wie die Platzhirsche reagieren. Vodafone bringt angeblich das HTC G2 auf den Markt und auch andere Marktteilnehmer werden sich jetzt bewegen.
